Job description

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
Department: Office of Medical Education
Job Title: Part Time Clinical Content Director – Open Rank (Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor)
Position #: 00840032 – Requisition #37740
Job Summary

The Clinical Content Director (CCD) – Family Medicine is responsible for ensuring a fully integrated and longitudinal curriculum within the director’s specialty across the 4‑year medical school curriculum. In the pre‑clerkship year, the CCD works closely with medical science and clinical skills directors to maintain continuity with the clerkship phase. The School of Medicine has transitioned to a longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) model in the second year of the Trek curriculum. Core clinical education occurs in an outpatient setting and is supported by hospital‑based immersions during the core clinical year. The CCD develops curriculum, assessment and grading, teaches, and leads faculty and housestaff development while collaborating with specialty liaisons at each LIC site. In the third and fourth years the CCD ensures specialty collaboration, supports advanced clinical coursework, and navigates overlapping clinical site needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with DOCS faculty to integrate clinical skills and reasoning taught in pre‑clerkship into the clerkship curricula, ensuring consistency, eliminating gaps and redundancies, and identifying intentional repetition needs.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvements with basic medical science content directors to review team‑based learning content annually and revise as needed.
  • Work with family medicine specialty liaisons at each LIC site to ensure learning objectives, competencies, and clinical conditions are achieved by all students and to compare across diverse training sites.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to house staff and faculty regarding curricular changes.
  • Support specialty liaisons and LIC directors when students require additional support to achieve competency.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Assessment, Evaluation and Outcomes to write grading criteria for the specialty clerkship, develop a standard‑setting process among LIC liaisons and sites, and chair the annual grading committee for Family Medicine.
  • Coordinate with Directors of Advanced Science Courses, Basecamps, and Post‑Clerkship Curriculum to strategically repeat content and avoid unplanned repetition.
  • Participate in direct student teaching as a pre‑clerkship or LIC preceptor.
  • Attend bimonthly CCD meetings and monthly CPCC meetings; organize and lead meetings with family medicine liaisons.
  • Respond promptly to email and text communications from students, faculty, and program leadership.
  • Engage with School of Medicine information technology platforms and learning management systems.
