Job summary

Horizon Industries is seeking a part-time Chief Information Officer to provide executive leadership for the company’s CMMC Level 2 program and Microsoft GCC High environment. The CIO will own the organization’s CMMC compliance posture, overseeing controls, governance, risk management, and audit readiness.

The role requires deep experience with NIST SP 800‑171, CMMC, and DoD contracting, with remote work and periodic onsite support. Approximately 20–40 hours per month are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of progressive IT leadership experience.
• Previous CIO/CISO or equivalent executive role.
• Experience supporting CMMC Level 2 or NIST SP 800-171 compliance programs.
• Experience operating within DoD, federal contractor, or defense-industrial-base environments.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 GCC High, Purview, and Sentinel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Horizon's CIO for all CMMC-related activities.
• Own systems that process, store, or transmit CUI.
• Ensure cybersecurity initiatives align with business objectives and regulations.
• Provide strategic technology guidance on compliance, security, and risk.
• Participate in executive compliance reviews and readiness briefings.
• Support annual attestations relating to CMMC readiness.
