Barry University in Miami Shores is seeking a part-time Chemistry Lab Assistant to support the Lab Director and lab instructors, helping students acquire basic technical skills through demonstrations and supervision in CHE labs (CHE 111L, 112L, 152L, 343L, 344L, 352L).

The role requires current Barry University student enrolled in a BS science program, basic Excel/Graphical Analysis skills, and passing the relevant course with a B or better; duties include maintaining lab cleanliness, preparing

Qualifications

Current Barry University student enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, science major preferred.
Basic experience using Excel or Graphical Analysis software is preferred.
Must have successfully passed with a “B” or better in the course that he or she will be assisting.

Responsibilities

Assist chemistry students in acquiring various technical skills through demonstration and supervision.
Help enforce safety rules as students perform experiments.
Assist students with basic computer programs such as those used for graphing (Excel, etc.).
Maintain the cleanliness of the lab, including benches, weighing balances, and fume hood areas.
Prepare various solutions and reagents for experiments as needed.
Assist the Lab Director in organizing the chemistry labs and chemical stockroom.
Perform clerical duties, including photocopying.
Assist with proctoring exams and grading pre-labs.
Other duties as assigned.
