Harris Teeter in Greenville, SC, seeks a friendly, customer-focused associate to assist customers, maintain product knowledge, and promote sales within the Murray's Cheese department. You will welcome shoppers, sample offerings, and inform them of specials while ensuring freshness, proper labeling, and accurate inventory.

Training will be provided to support excellent service. The role emphasizes strong interpersonal skills, bilingual or English proficiency, and the ability to work with the team

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One to three months related experience and/or training.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist in achieving sales and profit goals established for the department, monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Work closely with the Murray's team, as well as the Fresh Foods department to create an environment that is engaging to customers. Embrace the Customer service strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Essential Functions

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of Murray's Cheese specials.
• Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size, or as close as possible to the amount ordered, to prevent shrink.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness.
• Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store's layout and be able to locate products when requested by customer.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions note any discrepancies in inventory.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
• Comply with all state, county and local weights and measures laws and labeling requirements.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks, or issues and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
• Willing to taste cheese, in accordance with company policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos [in English]. Ability to write simple correspondence [in English]. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization who only speak English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Complete Company’s training including but not limited to: new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.
