Job summary

Volunteers of America Colorado seeks a Part-time Chapel Ministry Coordinator to lead spiritual programming and outreach at the VOAC Mission Chapel. The role includes managing chapel scheduling, promoting events, and building relationships with participants, staff, and community members.

The coordinator will support ministry activities through trauma-informed care and contribute to community outreach and spiritual support, with a focus on creating a welcoming space for VOA Colorado participants

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate chapel services, open hours, and events.
  • Promote chapel use within VOA Colorado and the community.
  • Provide spiritual support to participants and community members during scheduled hours.
  • Collaborate with ministers, staff, volunteers, and partners to support programming.
  • Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment in the Chapel.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.

The Chapel Ministry Coordinator is responsible for leading spiritual programming and outreach efforts at the VOAC Mission Chapel, transforming the space into an active center for community engagement and spiritual care. This role includes managing chapel scheduling, promoting events, and building relationships with Mission program participants, staff, and community members. The coordinator will support ministry activities through trauma-informed care and will contribute to community outreach and spiritual support

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures that the participant’s voice is heard.
  • Responsible for possessing some knowledge regarding Christian Theology and field-relevant best practices.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of participant-specific resources, a passion for serving various at-risk populations, and the ability to contribute to the program-wide objectives of a diverse and dynamic team.
  • Provides spiritual support to program participants and community members during scheduled hours.
  • Performs duties in a professional manner by maintaining the confidentiality of all information and by participating effectively within and across teams.
  • Coordinates and schedules chapel services, open hours, and special events
  • Promotes chapel use internally and within the broader community.
  • Collaborate with ministers, staff, volunteers, and community partners to support chapel programming.
  • Engages in community outreach to increase participation in chapel activities.
  • Assist Mission program staff with on-site crisis situations with de-escalation skills when necessary.
  • Maintains a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment within the Chapel.
  • Interacts courteously and professionally with VOA participants, donors, volunteers, and staff and effectively resolves conflicts when necessary.
  • Attends bi-monthly VOACO minister meetings and trainings.
  • Performs job responsibilities in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. 2 -3 times per day.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long period of time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Part time Hours 8 hours a week, 4 on Sunday and the other 4 hours will be dictated by program needs

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Minimum Qualifications of Position
  • The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Good organizational and planning skills; works well as part of a team.
  • Is a commissioned or constituent minister of the Volunteers of America church, a minister of another Christian church or is willing to become one within a year.
Preferred Qualifications of Position
  • Experience working with individuals who are experiencing chronic homelessness with a severe and persistent mental health concern.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level of competency working with Microsoft Office suite and cloud-based applications.
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong organization skills
  • Must have the ability to present and communicate professionally.
