Job summary

Hutchinson Community College invites applications for a part-time CDL instructor to prepare students for DMV pre-trip inspections and truck/trailer driving tests. You will also maintain records, oversee vehicle maintenance, and deliver classroom and driving sessions.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with airbrake endorsement; driving record will be checked.
• Ability to teach classroom sessions and driving knowledge/skills to students with limited tractor/trailer experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly.
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and handling tasks in indoor/outdoor environments.
• Mental requirements include ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions; able to work with or without accommodation.
• Qualifications are guidelines; alternatives may be substituted if sufficient to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide CDL/pre-trip inspection instruction for DMV testing prep.
• Provide CDL driving instruction for DMV driving tests prep.
• Maintain records of instructional appointments and drive time.
• Oversee repair/maintenance of trucks and trailers for CDL program.
• Teach CDL classroom and student driving sessions as assigned.
• Coordinate training schedules with other driving instructors.
• Coordinate with program secretary on drive time purchases and course completion certificates.
• Communicate with program coordinator about equipment and scheduling needs.
• Create instructional materials as needed and work well in a team.
• Comply with HutchCC policies and attend campus committees.
• Arrive on time and perform duties as required.
