Job summary

Covenant Care Animal Hospital in Leon Valley, TX is seeking a dependable Kennel Technician for a part-time role supporting our boarding team. You will care for boarding pets, ensure clean kennels, and help with enrichment and safety.

This position requires weekend availability and involves feeding, walks, and record-keeping for pets staying with us. You will collaborate with the team to ensure a comfortable stay.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in animal care, boarding, kennel, shelter, grooming, veterinary, or pet care environment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow care instructions, communicate clearly, and report concerns appropriately.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and balancing multiple care tasks throughout the shift.
• Must be available to work Thursday through Sunday.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for boarding pets, including feeding, fresh water, walks, playtime, and enrichment according to each pet’s needs and instructions.
• Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, cages, bowls, bedding, play areas, and other boarding spaces to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment.
• Monitor pets for changes in behavior, appetite, elimination, comfort, or health, and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Handle pets safely and compassionately, using low-stress techniques whenever possible and following hospital safety protocols.
• Assist with basic bathing, nail trims, and sanitary maintenance, or other boarding related care tasks.
• Maintain accurate boarding records, including feeding notes, medication reminders, activity updates, and any observations related to the pet’s stay.
• Support the boarding and hospital teams with laundry, restocking supplies, organizing boarding areas, and other tasks that help keep the facility running smoothly.
• Communicate with teammates in a professional, timely manner to ensure continuity of care for each boarding pet.
