The YMCA is currently taking applications for energetic, confident, and friendly staff to work in the sports department as Sports Aides. The Sports Aide is responsible for upholding the Sports Official Code of Conduct and enforcing the rules of play during games.

This part-time role requires knowledge of multiple sports, physical stamina to officiate games, and the ability to communicate clearly with players and staff. Training in First Aid/CPR is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable of all sports including but not limited to: basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, and/or baseball
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
• Must be able to walk, run, crouch, and stand for long periods of time in order to officiate games
• Must be able to communicate with others effectively and professionally
• Must be energetic, enthusiastic, motivational, and have strong human relation skills
• Required to inspect sporting equipment and/or participants in order to ensure safety
• Must attend provided training courses including first Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Awareness, and other trainings as outlined by the YMCA

Responsabilités

• Officiate games and call them fairly, upholding the Sports Official Code of Conduct.
• Be the sole representative at many YMCA games and maintain control of the games.
• Communicate rulings quickly and clearly to players and staff.
