Job summary

Commonwealth Hotels' Courtyard by Marriott Houston Rice University is seeking a Part-Time Restaurant Bartender to deliver high‑quality service at events and during regular service in a premium setting. You will mix and serve drinks, check IDs, maintain drink menus, greet guests, process payments, restock supplies, and keep the bar area clean while upholding health and safety standards.

Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in food service is advantageous.
• Demonstrated focus on guest satisfaction.
• Strong engaging with guests and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
• Check customer identification to verify legal drinking age.
• Maintain knowledge of drink menus, ingredients and pairings.
• Suggest drinks based on customer preferences.
• Greet customers and take orders efficiently.
• Engage with guests to create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Handle complaints professionally.
• Monitor alcohol consumption and intervene when necessary.
• Process payments via cash, credit card, or POS system.
• Manage tabs and ensure accurate billing.
• Restock bar supplies and inventory.
• Clean and sanitize bar equipment and glassware.
• Ensure bar area is organized and tidy.
• Dispose of trash and follow health and safety regulations.
