Job summary

Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Iowa is seeking a compassionate Home Helper to assist clients in private residences with personal services, transportation, housekeeping and meal preparation. You will support bathing and dressing, hygiene, companionship and reminders, with a focus on independence and comfort.

The role includes transportation, light housekeeping, laundry, errands and meal prep, with a flexible weekday schedule of 16–24 hours weekly and no weekends or holidays required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to think, act and intervene independently in routine and emergency situations.
• Must be self-motivated and function as an in-charge person.
• Must relate to clients, staff and families in a courteous manner.
• Must work flexible hours and have reliable attendance.
• Fluent English reading, writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in private residences with personal services, transportation, housekeeping and meal preparation.
• Provide bathing, dressing, hygiene support, companionship and reminders as needed.
• Transport to appointments, run errands, assist with shopping and other tasks.

16 to 24 hours per week, part- time Weekdays Flexible schedule from 8am to 5:00pm, No weekends or holidays required

Responsibilities

The Home Helper will assist clients in their private residence with personal services, transportation, housekeeping and/or meal preparation. Personal services includes bathing and dressing, hygiene services, exercise, medication reminders, companionship and personal appearance care. Transportation includes to and from appointments, errands, shopping and more. Housekeeping includes laundry, light housekeeping, organizing and downsizing, recycling and changing of linens. Meal preparation includes meal prep and grocery shopping.
