Job summary

Symposium Coffee in Sherwood, OR is seeking an energetic Barista to educate customers, prepare high-quality coffee beverages, and contribute to a welcoming store environment.

Responsibilities include welcoming guests, explaining the menu, maintaining inventory, and ensuring safety and cleanliness. Previous café experience and relevant permits/licenses are preferred. This role emphasizes excellent customer service and a team-oriented atmosphere in a busy shop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Prior café or coffee shop experience a plus.
• OLCC Servers Permit.
• Food Handlers License.

Responsibilities

• Promotes coffee and whiskey consumption by educating customers; selling coffee, and supplies; preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks and a few signature cocktails, along with pastries, sandwiches, and other food items.
• Welcomes customers by determining their interests and needs.
• Educates customers by presenting and explaining the menu; answering questions.
• Generates revenues by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products.
• Maintains inventories by replenishing supplies; stocking; maintaining supplies, pastries, and kitchen back stock.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; cleaning.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.
• Enhances Symposium’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
