Job Overview:

Provides direct, prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Interacts with customers for their immediate selection of various fresh meats, cheeses, salads, bakery items, and hot foods from the deli department. Handles food safely and maintains a clean and organized work area.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, demonstrating care, concern, and patience in all interactions.
2. Greets customers warmly and professionally, whether in the department or elsewhere in the store.
3. Answers the department telephone promptly and assists callers courteously.
4. Processes customer orders at the deli counter, including slicing, weighing, pricing, labeling, and wrapping products.
5. Reviews daily orders and processes accordingly.
6. Maintains proper sanitation and cleanliness of the work area.
7. Checks food for freshness and monitors temperature of hot and cold units.
8. Prepares, replenishes, and manages product inventory as needed.
9. Receives and stocks product, reviews invoices, and manages inventory control.
10. Ensures compliance with local health department regulations regarding food handling.
11. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

1. Ability to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
2. Ability to understand and follow verbal and demonstrated instructions, request supplies orally or in writing.
3. Visual requirements include clarity of vision at various distances, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
4. Capability to handle refrigerated and frozen temperatures when retrieving products.
5. Ability to participate in preparing salads, sandwiches, fried chicken, fish, etc.
6. Ability to safely operate slicers and fryers for food preparation.
7. Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
8. Good judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
