Job summary

PSI Molded Plastics, a plastics injection molding manufacturer with over 30 years in the industry, is seeking an Intern Professional in Marion, SC. The role focuses on assisting in designing, developing, and supporting electro-mechanical systems and automated processes.

You will gain hands-on experience with PLC/HMI, SolidWorks, and robotics, while contributing to production improvements. The position requires pursuing an Engineering degree, familiarity with schematics, and a strong analytical

Qualifications

  • Currently seeking a degree in Engineering from an accredited school.
  • Basic understanding of PLC and HMI controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Basic understanding of robotics controller and motion profiles, preferably Fanuc or UR Robotics
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components
  • Basic understanding of Hydraulic circuitry
  • Basic understanding of SolidWorks and ability to design within the software
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to work with a team or alone.
  • Self-starter with a passion for Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, developing, and enhancing electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices.
  • Assisting in creation and supporting of automated systems and the software to control them.
  • Enhance or modify existing PLC and HMI programs as needed.
  • Assist in Developing design documents for mechanical parts and final products.
  • Maintain technical project files.
  • Identify and select materials appropriate for mechatronic system designs.
  • Assist in identifying areas of weakness in the production line or finished products and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Implement or test design solutions.
  • Understanding problems or client briefs and developing solutions that satisfy them.
  • Selecting the required tools and materials for the manufacturing process.
  • Create mechanical models and tolerance analyses to simulate mechatronic design concepts.
  • Research, select, or apply sensors, communication technologies, or control devices for motion control, position sensing, pressure sensing, or electronic communication.
  • Attending workshops, training sessions, and conferences to network with others and stay on top of field advancements.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.
