Job summary

Crawford Central School District Meadville Area Senior High School in Meadville, PA seeks a Part-Time Autistic Support Aide to support our learning support program. 183 days, 4.5 hours per day; start date August 31, 2026.

Training provided for new employees and opportunities to assist with behavior management. The role involves assisting a special educator, addressing student needs, toileting/diapering as needed, and potential van transport support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Flexibility when working with children of different ages and abilities.
  • Meets the Highly qualified requirement when deemed necessary.
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as appropriate or acceptable by the board.

Responsibilities

  • Supports instructional program for special needs students with practice, review, and drill.
  • Assists in guiding, redirecting, and prompting student behavior.
  • Assists in implementing and charting behavior management plans and progress toward educational goals.
  • Assists in preparing adapted or modified learning materials.
  • Assists students with use of assistive devices or other equipment.
  • Monitors pupil activity during independent study periods.
  • Helps students with self-help skills such as eating, dressing, and toileting as needed.
  • Acts as liaison between learning support and classroom teachers.
  • Pursues continuing education in Behavior Management Techniques and related areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the learning support teacher or principal.

Part Time Autistic Support Aide

Location: Crawford Central School District Meadville Area Senior High School – Meadville, Pennsylvania.

Position details: 183 days, 4.5 hours per day. Multiple positions available. Start date: Aug 31, 2026.

Job Goal

Assist the special educator in meeting the needs of learning support students within a system that supports appropriate inclusion.

Reports To

Special Education Teacher, Building Principal, Director of Special Services.

Requirements / Duties
  • CPI Training, CPR, First Aid, PCA Logs, Lifting.
  • Address behavioral issues, toileting/diapering, daily mobility; may include riding the school van.
  • Training provided for new employees.
Responsibilities
  • Supports the instructional program taught to special needs students by providing practice, review, and drill.
  • Assists in guiding, redirecting, prompting student behavior.
  • Assists in the implementation and charting of behavior management plans and progress toward achievement of educational goals.
  • Assists in the preparation of adapted or modified learning materials.
  • Assists students in the use of low- and high-tech assistive devices or other special equipment that may be required.
  • Assists in monitoring pupil activity during periods of free independent study, seat work, etc.
  • Provides assistance to students in self-help skills such as eating, dressing, and toileting as the need requires.
  • Supports the collaborative link between learning support and classroom teachers by assisting as a communication liaison between the two.
  • Continuing education in Behavior Management Techniques, Passive Restraints, and other classes offered at the Intermediate Unit, etc.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by the learning support teacher and/or building principal and approved by the Director of Special Services for the general well-being of the student.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of computer technology and word processing.
  • Flexibility when working with children of different ages, backgrounds, abilities, etc.
  • Meets the Highly qualified requirement when deemed necessary.
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as appropriate or acceptable by the board.
