Position Information

Part Time Auditorium/Theatre - Technical Assistant

Department: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

Salary: $22.52-$24.76 per hour (depending on education level)

Working Hours: Days and times vary.

Job Summary

This position assists in setting up and maintaining the Auditorium/Theatre for events and programs. Responsibilities include operating lighting and sound equipment, assembling sets and props, ensuring safety, managing inventory in Excel, and coordinating scheduling, purchasing, and other facility-related activities.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate lighting for events and programs.
  • Repair, maintain, and organize lighting equipment and associated accessories.
  • Repair, maintain, and organize sound equipment and associated accessories.
  • Construct or supervise the construction of sets and props.
  • Supervise safety procedures related to facility usage.
  • Use Excel to create and update the inventory database.
  • Collaborate with supervisors on scheduling, purchasing, and coordinating activities within the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Essential Functions

Must be able to operate computers, communicate verbally and in writing, interact with a diverse student population and faculty, perform physical tasks required by the position, and work a flexible schedule.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience with lighting, staging, and/or sound for productions or events.
  • Physical ability to lift 10–20 pounds.
  • Flexible work schedule, including days, nights, and weekends, as events demand.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Productions or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience with lighting and/or sound for productions or events.
  • Experience with set construction.
  • Experience with ETC lighting equipment and networks or equivalent manufacturer.
  • Experience with analog and digital sound boards.
  • Experience with AVID ProTools.
  • Two years of experience in carpentry.
