USDC - Middle District of Florida seeks an Attorney Advisor to provide legal support to the Clerk of Court. This role includes conducting legal research, advising on court operations, and drafting important documents. Candidates must possess a JD degree and strong research and writing skills.
The position offers a salary range of $42,570 - $69,190, depending on federal service history, with a full Federal benefit package.
The attorney advisor serves as the primary legal support to the Clerk of Court, provides legal advice regarding the clerk’s office and court operations, and ensures compliance with statutes, rules, policies, and procedures. The Attorney Advisor independently conducts legal research, provides analysis and prepares reports, and drafts court procedures, policy documents, and correspondence. The Attorney Advisor serves as a resource to the Clerk of Court, Chief Deputies, HR Director, and other managers for HR issues, policies, and training. This position is directly supervised by the Clerk of Court.
Exceptional research, writing, organizational, speaking and time‑management skills are required. Ability to maintain confidential information, exercise good judgment, and deliver polished materials. Ability to create and maintain a positive, effective communication foundation among the court, the bar, and public. Legal training and knowledge of federal court procedures are required. A JD degree from an accredited law school in the United States or an equivalent degree from an institution elsewhere is required. Experience with criminal cases is helpful, but not required.
Salary: CL 29 $42,570 - $69,190 (Prorated for part-time) $42,570 - $53,218 New federal employees* $42,570 - $69,190 Current or former federal employees* *Starting salary adjustments prioritize prior federal service, with some recognition of relevant work experience and prior salary history. Applicants with prior federal court experience may be eligible for a starting salary above the minimum.
