Sinclair Broadcast Group’s WJAR in Providence, RI is seeking a part-time journalist to help produce a live, daily news-talk program. Responsibilities include writing copy, editing video, posting to web and social media, operating a teleprompter, and assisting with story gathering.

Ideal candidate has newsroom experience, ability to work all shifts, and a 4-year journalism-related degree. Prior experience with live programs is preferred; EEO statement follows.

WJAR, Southern New England's News Leader and one of America's most-watched television stations, has a rare opportunity to help produce a live, daily news-talk program on television. This show is driven by a dynamic host covering current events and compelling topics and includes guests and interaction with our viewers. The ideal candidate will follow the news closely in Southern New England and nationally, be flexible and work quickly. This is a part-time position with the possibility for advancement. Previous experience in a newsroom and/or with a live program are required. Guest booking, research, editing, writing and social media management are some of the responsibilities in this position.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting Producers with finding stories
• Assisting with other editorial duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

• The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
• The ability to write quality broadcast news copy under tight deadlines
• You must have strong writing and news judgment skills
• Experience with Avid editing software a plus
• A 4-year degree in Journalism or Mass Communications
• Available to work all shifts including weekdays, evenings, overnight, weekends, and some holidays
