Job summary

Smart & Final in Yuma, AZ is hiring a Part-time Associate (Cashier) to provide excellent customer service, stock shelves, and operate the cash register at Store Location: 276 E 16Th Street, Yuma, Arizona, 85364. Starting rate is $15.15/hr.

Responsibilities include maintaining sections, setting up displays, sanitation, and assisting customers with information. The role requires basic English reading/writing, ability to lift up to 60 pounds, and friendly, efficient service.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to interact with the general public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags and memos.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and may order, receive and stock merchandise using proper equipment, ensure proper pricing on merchandise, check product date codes to validate proper rotation, stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays and review invoices/bills for accuracy.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of store and parking lot as directed by store management.
• Operate a cash register, receive payment from customers, make change or process check/charge/debit transactions.
• Verify customer eligibility when selling alcoholic beverages.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous assistance to customers.
• Load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties and record lost/damaged goods and store supplies.

The Opportunity

The Part‑Time Associate is the key to our success! Stores count on Part‑Time Associates to provide excellent customer service, keep the shelves fully stocked with good, fresh food and create an all‑around great shopping experience for our customers.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain a store section as assigned and may order, receive and stock merchandise using proper equipment, ensure proper pricing on merchandise, check product date codes to validate proper rotation, stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays and refrigerated/frozen cases. May prepare perishable products for sale.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays. Review invoices/bills for accuracy.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of store and parking lot as directed by store management.
• Operate a cash register, receive payment from customers, make change or process check/charge/debit transactions. Process cash and/or credit refunds, when approved by management.
• Verify customer eligibility when selling alcoholic beverages.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous assistance to customers by providing them with current store and product information.
• When requested, load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties. Record lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools.
