Job summary

The University of Pittsburgh's University Child Development Center is seeking a Part Time Assistant Teacher to support a classroom of infants through age five. Under the supervision of Head and Associate Teachers, you will assist with daily activities, supervise children, and communicate with families; some supervision of University students may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with 30 college credits in early childhood education or related fields.
• High school diploma/GED with 600+ hours of secondary training as described.
• High school diploma/GED with 15 credits in relevant fields and 1 year of experience with children.
• High school diploma/GED with post-secondary training as described in §3270.31(c).
• High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience with children.

Responsibilities

• Supports head and associate teachers in a child development center.
• Prepares fine and gross motor activities for child development.
• Maintains a safe classroom conducive to learning and engagement.
• Guides student and temporary workers.
• May supervise when the Head Teacher and Associate Teacher are not in the classroom.
• Maintains daily communication with families.

Education
