Job summary

First Steps Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our program that blends purposeful play with a structured curriculum. Shifts include Mondays through Fridays: 2:00 PM to 6:15 PM, and 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM for Infants, with Friday coverage as needed.

You will support developmentally appropriate curricula, manage transitions, and help prepare supplies in a caring, safe environment. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is required.

Qualifications

• Love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Must be physically able to lift and carry a minimum of 45 pounds and actively engage with children.
• Must read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
• Pass pre-employment screenings and trainings as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering developmentally appropriate curricula and values-based learning.
• Support classroom management, supervision, transitions, cleaning and preparing supplies.
• Assist in infant classroom activities and maintain a safe, engaging environment.

Our Assistant Teachers exhibit enthusiasm, a caring attitude and a love of learning. Our Assistant Teachers support developmentally appropriate academic and values curricula in a loving and safe environment. Our Assistant Teachers assist in classroom management including supervision, transitions, cleaning and preparing supplies.

Requirements

We seek candidates who exhibit professionalism, pride in work, initiative, a strong work ethic and who support parents as partners in education. Other requirements include:

• A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Must be physically able to lift and carry a minimum of 45 pounds, engage in physical activity with children, and work indoors or outdoors.
• Must be able to constantly move and interact with the children to provide stimulation and develop relationships.
• Must be able to alternate often between sitting and standing.
• Must be able to maintain sight and sound of the children at all times.
• CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Pass pre-employment screenings and trainings as required.
