This is an ongoing posting to recruit temporary assistant coaches for the sports offered by Elmhurst University's athletic program. Positions are temporary and seasonal, and openings may become available at various times throughout the year. Cover letters submitted with applications should clearly state which sport an applicant is applying to coach. A listing of Elmhurst University sports is available at https://elmhurstbluejays.com. These positions assist a sport's head coach with day‑to‑day operations of the program. Qualified applicants understand the mission of the NCAA, Division III athletics, and the role of an athletic department in creating a positive environment for student‑athletes.
Temporary part‑time assistant coaches are paid approximately $2,000 - $7,000 as a stipend per season, and may be rehired to work during future seasons. The actual stipend offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, length of applicable season including any pre‑season and post‑season work, required time commitment during the applicable season, and departmental budget.
SPECIAL NOTATION: Staff members must possess a commitment and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of Elmhurst University, the CCIW and the NCAA. Staff members must cooperate with and furnish the NCAA, the CCIW and/or Elmhurst University with truthful and complete information concerning involvement in or knowledge of rules violations. Any person who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective actions as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repeated violations.
Employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions (temperatures varying from below 32 degrees to over 90 degrees) for periods of over one hour, subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, etc., and involves heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly in order to move objects. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and lift 50 pounds. Must be able to be fitted with and wear a respirator. Must be willing to work an irregular schedule, including weekends, as required.
These positions are designated by Elmhurst University as being safety sensitive. Per University policy, employment in these positions is contingent upon completion of a pre‑employment drug test with satisfactory results. Testing is performed at the University’s expense in an approved facility within one week of acceptance of a written offer of employment.
