Job summary

MACC is seeking candidates interested in teaching as a part-time instructor (adjunct faculty). These positions are contracted for a semester with pay on a per credit hour basis. Availability of adjunct faculty positions is based on enrollment in courses offered at all MACC sites.

Applicants will be added to our pool of adjunct faculty, with credentials kept on file for three years. A Master's degree is required for most subject areas, with 18 graduate hours in the subject area, and teaching

Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field required.
• Minimum of 18 graduate hours in the subject area.
• Teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes assigned by administration, including day, evening, dual credit, distance education, or any campus location.
• Provide effective instruction with active and meaningful learning activities and timely feedback on student progress.
• Develop course materials/handouts, lectures and labs, and update regularly for relevance and alignment with the syllabus.
• Provide students with a course syllabus aligned with the common syllabus and submit to the dean by the second week of each semester.
• Utilize course-adopted textbooks and/or course resources.
• Keep and submit grades and attendance records by the established date.
• Maintain three office hours per week (if teaching at least nine credit hours) and share office hours with the dean.
• Follow college-wide student attendance policy and drop non-attending students promptly.
• Refer at-risk students to available support resources and interventions.
• Participate in program assessment development and use feedback to improve learning outcomes.
• Attend faculty meetings if requested by the dean.
• Check college email regularly and maintain effective communication with students and staff.
• Participate in professional growth activities and service opportunities as appropriate/approved.
• Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to achieve shared goals and strategic plan priorities.
• Submit updated/current college transcripts to the Human Resources Office, showing all work earned at graduate and undergraduate level.
