Job summary

Oakton College seeks part-time adjunct faculty in Des Plaines/Skokie, IL to teach Biomedical courses with cadaver labs and related anatomy topics. Positions pay on a lecture hour equivalent basis, with rates $1,251/LHE (non-doctorates) or $1,326/LHE (doctorates) for 2026-27.

Applicants should have doctoral or master’s degrees in biology/adjacent fields and substantial teaching experience, including courses like Bio 231–244, and be able to teach evenings or weekends and in-person on Des Plaines

Qualifications

• Teaching experience at an educational institution.
• Doctoral degree in biology, one of the biological sciences, or biology education with at least 18 graduate hours in Biology, or anatomy and physiology.
• Masters degree in Biology with 18 or more graduate credit hours in anatomy, physiology, or medical/clinical education; or Masters in anatomy and physiology; or 2 years of cadaver teaching experience.
• Experience teaching Bio 231 Human Anatomy and Physiology I (with cadavers).
• Experience teaching Bio 232 Human Anatomy and Physiology II (with cadavers).
• Experience teaching Bio 233 Human Anatomy and Physiology I (without cadavers).
• Experience teaching Bio 234 Human Anatomy and Physiology II (without cadavers).
• Experience teaching Bio 242 Pathophysiology and Human Disease.
• Experience teaching Bio 244 Principles of Pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Construct a course syllabus aligned with course objectives and grading criteria.
• Prepare course presentations and instructional materials for lectures and laboratories.
• Deliver instruction and be prepared for scheduled classes and labs.
• Consult with and evaluate students.
• Maintain clear records on student performance and attendance for grading.
• Comply with policies and submit mid-term and final grades; keep office hours; adhere to texts and grading standards.
