Job summary

Bgcharfordcecil is seeking an on-site instructor for the 2026-2027 afterschool program to provide direct academic, social, and emotional enrichment under the Afterschool Site Coordinator. The role is grant-funded and part-time with a pay range of $17.00–$18.50 per hour.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with youth programs, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old with a high school diploma or higher.
• Experience in youth programs or project implementation.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people (students, staff, families, community).
• Understanding of child development needs and levels.
• Ability to manage classes safely, nurture behavior, and engage students.
• Flexible, creative, self-motivated, and enjoy working with children.
• Reliable and consistent in attendance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification recommended.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Ability to lift supplies up to 25 lbs.
• Pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety, development, and instruction policies.
• Plan and prepare activities and ensure supplies are ready.
• Implement activities with fidelity according to curriculum.
• Maintain a joyful environment with engaged students.
• Manage a clean, safe space and handle transitions.
• Communicate with staff, schools, parents, and students as needed.
• Collect and provide data for activity reporting.
• Attend required professional development and staff meetings.
• Participate in student showcases or family/community events.
• Engage in equitable, culturally responsive practices.
