Job summary

New Life Mission is seeking an After School Program Assistant in Melbourne, FL. This part-time role, typically 10 to 25 hours per week with possible event hours, supports children ages 5–16 in a faith-based program.

You will help provide a safe, nurturing environment, engage kids with crafts and games, and coordinate with staff and families to promote positive development and daily accountability.

Qualifications

• Child-centered approach with emphasis on safety and welfare.
• Engage children through crafts, play, and storytelling.
• Maintain hygiene and safety during activities.
• Communicate regularly with the Director and families.
• Background check completed prior to employment.
• Must be 18 years or older and hold a Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for children aged 5–16 in the after-school program.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment aligned with program goals.
• Engage children with arts, crafts, supervised play and storytelling.
• Interact with children and supervise volunteers effectively.
• Monitor playground time and ensure safety of all children.
• Maintain communication with the Children’s Program Director and mothers.
• Report accidents and suspected abuse per Florida requirements.
• Assist with transport for field trips using the company vehicle.
