Rutgers University-Newark seeks a Part-Time Instructor for Africana Studies to teach surveys or upper-level courses in Spring 2027. Responsibilities include course material preparation, syllabus posting, teaching during assigned times, holding office hours, and timely assessment and grading of students.

The position may involve day, evening, weekend, off-campus, online, hybrid, or remote instruction based on departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in African American or African studies or closely related area required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Teach African American and African studies surveys or upper-level courses.
• Prepare course materials and post syllabus.
• Hold office hours and provide out-of-class time for students.
• Respond to student emails and assess via assignments and exams.
• Submit final grades in a timely manner.
