Job summary

UDC College of Arts & Sciences seeks an instructor to teach in the Interdisciplinary General Education Program (IGED). Incumbents will deliver assigned courses, prepare relevant curricula, and use a variety of teaching methods including lectures, labs, and projects.

You will create syllabi with clear objectives, use the LMS for materials and communication, and ensure coursework aligns with semester schedules. A Master’s degree and teaching potential are required or strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Political Science, History, Management or equivalent degree.
• Prior teaching experience is valued, particularly with students working in teams or applicant must demonstrate evidence of teaching potential and/or corporate/industry training.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses as specified in the schedule and course contract.
• Evaluate and select texts and instructional materials; prepare course materials and lesson plans.
• Provide students an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the institution, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria.
• Use the institution’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
• Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles and provide engaging assignments that demonstrate real-world applications of concepts.
• Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, submit class rosters and grade sheets by deadlines.
