Job summary

Job description

Reporting to the Dean of Health Professions, the Pharmacy Technician Instructor is responsible for instructing courses, correlating laboratory exercises, and updating curriculum based on industry specifications.

Essential Duties

• Prepare and update course syllabi for each course taught.
• Provide instruction that covers the curriculum for assigned classes.
• Assure compliance with program expectations and support program outcomes.
• Perform student evaluation and use continuous quality improvement techniques to determine the effectiveness of instruction and student success.
• Discuss with students their concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to the learning experience.
• Assist students in developing an understanding of values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to the health care profession.
• Maintain accurate student records.
• Identify students needing assistance and refer/aid as needed.
• Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
• Create reports as requested by the Dean of Health Professions and the NWACC.
• Participate in program development activities.
• Assist in the enforcement of program regulations and report student conduct violations.
• Cultivate a personal interest in communities served by the program and participate in community activities when possible.
• Make recommendations to the Dean of Health Professions for selection of supplies, equipment, repairs, textbooks for courses of study, and scheduling of classroom and laboratory facilities.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies.
• Provide a professional role model for students.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet student, employer, and program needs.

Salary

Salary $765 per credit hour

Physical Demands

Employee must continuously sit, use hands, talk or hear; regularly reach with hands and arms; occasionally walk. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Environmental Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The role requires onsite, in‑person instruction.

Required Qualifications

• Currently licensed/certified as a Pharmacist Technician.
• Formal education equivalent to an associate degree in a healthcare or closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years as a licensed/certified Pharmacist Technician.

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently licensed/certified as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Formal education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years as a licensed/certified Pharmacist Technician.
• Formal teaching experience.
