Role Description

The Part Time Activity Assistant will support residents by helping plan and facilitate recreational and social activities that promote engagement, comfort, and enjoyment. This on-site role in Livingston, NJ involves assisting with group and individual activities, setting up and organizing materials, and encouraging resident participation in a respectful and inclusive manner. The Activity Assistant will collaborate with the care team to adapt activities to residents’ abilities and preferences, provide courteous support to residents and visitors, and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. The position is part time and may require flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong Communication skills, including clear verbal interaction and active listening with residents, families, and team members.
• Customer Service skills to provide compassionate, courteous, and respectful support to residents and visitors.
• Recreation skills to assist in planning and delivering engaging group and individual activities suitable for older adults.
• Elder Care awareness and sensitivity to the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of senior residents.
• Training capability to learn and follow activity plans, safety procedures, and facility policies, and to assist in orienting new team members as needed.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary care environment and to follow directions with minimal supervision.
• Dependable, organized, and able to manage time effectively in a fast-paced care setting.
• Previous experience in long-term care, senior living, or recreational programming is preferred but not required.
