Job summary

Moon Creative Lab in San Francisco is seeking a part-time 3D Printing Technician to join Variloom's growing team. The role focuses on hands-on operation of FDM/FFF printers, maintenance, and end-to-end production workflows.

The position starts at 20–28 hours per week with an hourly rate of $25–$35, depending on experience. This SF-based office will support scaling the production capacity and quality control across projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of slicer software OrcaSlicer and Simplify3D.
• Experience in a production, manufacturing, or fabrication environment.
• Time management – ability to manage your queue across overlapping jobs, machines and deadlines.
• Adaptable – we’re a rapidly growing team, and are looking for people who are willing to flex with us as we scale.
• Familiar with Excel and other tracking software to manage developments.
• Familiar with product quality control processes and have an ability to assess finish quality, color, handfeel on completed prints.
• Strong organizational skills and an eye for detailed documentation.
• Problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain 3D printers (flexible filament FDM/FFF) to ensure high-quality output.
• Manage prints queue, start new jobs and troubleshoot issues.
• Perform regular printer maintenance and part replacements.
• Install and configure new printers and related hardware/software.
• Generate and track quality metrics for printed parts and analyze data.
• Collaborate with design and engineering to optimize production processes.
• Develop scalable, repeatable workflows and manage inventory and logistics.
