The Missouri Department of Corrections is hiring for positions within corrections with a focus on offender supervision and community safety. The role involves evaluating offender environments, counseling, coordinating with agencies, and reporting on activities.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or above within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
• Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience (30 earned hours = 1 year).

Responsibilities

• Investigates offender's home, work, and social environments for circuit courts/Parole Board; collects and evaluates data and submits reports to authorities.
• Contacts offenders at homes, workplaces or confinement and counsels them on personal/adjustment problems; attends court.
• Assists in vocational and social integration planning and collaborates with public/private agencies and law enforcement.
• Prepares statistical reports; administers breathalyzer and urinalysis tests; participates in investigations and committees.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license for post assignments.
• Safety training, including defensive tactics, with annual re-qualification.
