Job summary

The City of Cambridge Department of Public Works seeks a Special Motor Equipment Operator IIA to perform skilled and unskilled tasks maintaining recreation areas, athletic fields, parks and playgrounds. You will operate a range of motor equipment and assist in snow/ice operations.

Role requires a valid CDL B, Hoisting Engineer License 2B, DOT medical certificate, clean driving record, and passing an on-road driving assessment. Internal candidates must have permanent civil service status.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in maintenance & care of recreation areas, athletic fields, parks & playgrounds
• Current and valid CDL Class B
• Current Hoisting Engineer License 2B
• Current DOT medical certificate
• Satisfactory driving record
• Provide unattested driving record at interview (within 6 months)
• On-road driving assessment will be part of interview
• CDL candidates must register with FMCSA Clearinghouse
• Internal applicants must have permanent civil service status

Responsibilities

• Operate motor equipment such as pickup trucks, trailers, tractors, mowers and other equipment, including 26,001+ lb when required
• Operate hoisting equipment when licensed, as needed
• Grease, oil, clean and perform preventive maintenance on equipment
• Load and unload trucks, haul materials and plows/sand highways
