Job summary

Dallas City Hall's Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker II to perform semi-skilled labor maintaining parks, playgrounds, facilities and landscaping. Duties include mowing, debris cleanup, playground care, and operating maintenance equipment.

Two years of experience with mowers and lawn equipment; Texas Driver's License is required. Education is not required. City benefits and equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Maintaining and operating hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of semi-skilled strenuous labor for the parks and recreation department; mow and maintain landscaping in public areas, collect and dispose of trash and debris, clean and maintain playgrounds and equipment, and perform other maintenance for facilities and grounds.
• Load and unload tools, construction materials, and equipment onto trucks to ensure tools are available for repairs.
• Assist in pollution and environmental inspection and related field work; support Pollution Prevention Program; perform flood and storm debris cleanup.
• Drive equipment to transport tools, equipment, supplies or material to and from work sites; cut grass, remove litter and weeds, clean floors and grounds to maintain upkeep of facilities, street medians, and vacant lots; remove hazards and ensure tenant safety.
• Ensure playground and public equipment is safe and functional; perform repairs to meet regulations and standards; maintain and monitor sports fields and surrounding areas.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operating conditions.
• Provide quality customer service and competent public interaction; handle hazardous or dangerous situations with professionalism and efficiency.
• Performs any other work as required or assigned.
