Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machines and tools used for maintenance of parks.
• Understanding of turf grass management and park landscaping.
• Ability to operate basic electrical, plumbing, automotive and carpentry skills.
• Experience with planting, pruning, and maintaining shrubs, trees, and lawns.
• Know-how to apply pesticides and fertilizers safely.

Responsibilities

• Maintain county parks and grounds: mowing, weeding, fertilizing, pruning.
• Operate landscape and maintenance equipment and keep tools in good condition.
• Line athletic fields and prep fields for official use.
• Perform clerical tasks and handle park supplies inventory; process receipts.
• Inspect facilities and coordinate repairs with supervisors.
• Provide customer service to park patrons and assist with emergencies.
• Explain park rules and assist with crowd control at events.
• Keep sidewalks and grounds clean and safe; shovel snow when needed.
