City of San Marcos, Texas is seeking a Parks/Facilities Worker to operate light and medium equipment and perform maintenance across parks, recreation facilities, and downtown areas. This temporary role supports 2,600+ acres of public parks and assists with renovation projects and special events.
You will handle turf management, building maintenance, irrigation work, and event setup, while complying with safety standards.
The Parks/Facilities Worker supports the City’s mission by operating light and medium equipment to maintain, enhance, and repair parks, recreation facilities, and designated downtown areas. It contributes to the stewardship of more than 2,600 acres of public parks and open spaces through skilled grounds, facility, and athletic field maintenance. The position also plays a key role in park construction and renovation projects and supports community engagement by assisting with special event setup.
40 hours a week
May 23, 2026 - September 30, 2026
This is a temporary position and will not extend beyond the designated timeframe unless an extension is formally approved.

This position requires the ability to lift up to 100 pounds frequently. Subject to standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, bending, twisting, balancing, vision, hearing, talking and foot controls frequently; fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching and climbing occasionally; sitting and crawling rarely.
Working conditions involve exposure to variable and/or extreme weather conditions, machinery with moving parts, hazardous materials/ chemicals, and infectious diseases is involved; utilizes personal protective equipment as necessary.
