The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the Parking Facility Attendant in the Transportation Department’s Parking Services Division. The role provides custodial and customer service duties at public parking facilities.
The position works a 30-hour week with a Friday–Sunday schedule from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, performing rounds, safety inspections, trash removal, basic repairs, and supporting event operations as needed.

High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all City or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Requires the ability to determine, calculate, tabulate, or summarize data/information, following aprescribed plan requiring the exercise of some judgment. Includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations.
Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations.
Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information.
Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. May include counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring.
Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.
Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and prolonged standing, long periods of walking, prolonged periods of going up and down stairs and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (15-30 pounds).
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, odors, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, confined spaces, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, or rude/irate customers.
