This is routine work in the enforcement of parking regulations. Employees in this class are responsible for the patrol of assigned geographical areas on foot or by of motor vehicle to inspect vehicle parking and issue citations as necessary. Work may be performed during adverse weather conditions. General supervision is provided through observation of work in progress and review of citations issued. Employees in this class are responsible for safe guarding property and patrons at City owned parking facilities. Incumbent will write parking citations for all parking violations stated within Chapter 72 of the Code.
REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; plus two (2) years of experience in an occupation requiring public contact. Certification as a Parking Enforcement Specialist.
PREFERRED: Associate's Degree; plus four (4) years of experience in an occupation requiring public contact.
Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
PARKING ENFORCEMENT SPECIALIST CERTIFICATION: Applicants must have this certification at the time of application. This minimum requirement cannot be waived. Applicants are encouraged to attach a copy of their Parking Enforcement Specialist certification to their employment application.
The assigned work days and hours for this position will vary to include nights, weekends and holidays.
