Job summary

Table Rock State Park in South Carolina seeks a full-time Maintenance Worker to perform repair, construction, groundskeeping and facility upkeep across park assets such as trails, lakes and buildings.

Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing motorized equipment, planning maintenance schedules, enforcing safety protocols and assisting with park operations including visitor services and camping registration. Training and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year general maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions; ability to perform simple arithmetic computation.
• Ability to operate a variety of power tools.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains motorized equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment. Keeps maintenance records.
• Assists in planning and scheduling the Park's maintenance program, including the inventory of tools and equipment and identifying short and long term maintenance needs.
• Assist safety program by actively following all workplace safety requirements and using PPE.
• Assists in the maintenance and construction of the Table Rock State Park trail system.
• Performs miscellaneous repairs and park improvements, to include carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping and groundskeeping.
• Performs and directs clean-up and housekeeping activities to assure the attractiveness, cleanliness and safety of park grounds and facilities.
• Assists with park operations including traffic control, search and rescue operations, park patrols, registering campers and other operational duties as assigned.
• Practice and promote teamwork within the State Park Service, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.

Table Rock State Park fits the bill for the natural beauty attributed to scenic Highway 11. The towering mountain, which gives the park its name, serves as a backdrop for the 3,000 acre park and its facilities. Below this section of the Blue Ridge Mountains, South Carolina natives and visitors can enjoy Table Rock State Park cabins, a campground and an old-fashioned swimming hole on one of the park’s two lakes.

Job Purpose & Duties:

Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of state parks to include repair and construction of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, groundskeeping and landscaping activities. Assists with the administration and the operation of a state park; assist park visitors.

Additional Requirements:

1. Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
2. Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions; ability to perform simple arithmetic computation. Ability to operate a variety of power tools.
3. Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License.

Actual Job Location: Table Rock State Park

Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
