Job summary

Baltimore County Government is seeking a Park Ranger I to perform park safety and security duties, patrol parklands and facilities, and assist in environmental and nature programs within Baltimore County, MD. The position requires a degree in park-related fields and experience in park management or related programs, with CPR/First Aid certification and driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in park operations, recreation, education, business administration, forestry, social sciences, history, or natural resources/history related field.
• One year of experience in forest or park management, recreation, or natural resources management, law enforcement, or developing/ delivering interpretive programs.
• Master’s degree in park management, recreation, education, business administration, forestry, social sciences or natural resource related field may substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and lead recreation and park employees; develop work schedules.
• Recruit, train, and guide volunteers; develop and oversee work projects.
• Plan, organize, and conduct diversified nature and leisure programs and community events; publicize activities.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in park operations/recreation/education/business administration/forestry/social sciences/natural resources or history related field

Master’s degree substitution for one year of experience
