Job summary

Douglas County seeks a Park Specialist to perform day-to-day visitor services and maintenance for county parks, campgrounds and recreational areas. The role includes keeping facilities clean, maintaining grounds and assisting with irrigation, structures and safety measures. Weekend work and flexible scheduling may be required.

You will interact with the public, lead seasonal staff/volunteers, and ensure operations align with county policies. A valid Oregon driver license is required.

Qualifications

• Three years of relevant work experience in a park, campground and/or recreational facility with visitor services and operations.
• Associates degree in Park & Recreation, Natural Resource Management or Environmental studies and 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
• Oregon Pesticide/Herbicide Applicator License desirable.
• At appointment, must possess a valid Oregon driver’s license.
• Regular and consistent attendance required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine grounds-keeping duties outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Conduct janitorial duties to maintain park facilities and restrooms.
• Operate and minor repair of hand tools and equipment; may lead seasonal staff or volunteers.
• Assist with structural maintenance of park buildings and facilities (non-licensed construction, plumbing, carpentry).
• Troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems and related electrical components.
