Job summary

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation in Austell, GA is seeking a Ride Mechanic for full-time, hourly work under a collective bargaining agreement. You will safely inspect, service, troubleshoot, install, and rehab ride machinery to keep operations safe and reliable.

The role requires welding and mechanical skills, ability to meet deadlines, and working at heights up to 200 ft. Valid driver’s license and personal hand tools are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect rides and attractions and notify management of hazards.
  • Perform ride inspection and maintenance per Six Flags, ASTM, and state standards.
  • Maintain, repair and troubleshoot park rides and attractions.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical systems and components.
  • Read and interpret drawings and manuals.
  • Keep daily maintenance logs and records of preventive maintenance.
  • Respond to work orders and conduct mechanical repairs to maintain safe park operation.
  • Adhere to park policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Are you ready to take your career to new heights? 200ft to be exact! Join our team as a Ride Mechanic and work where you have fun! Ride mechanics get first‑hand access to the rides that established us as the Thrill Capital of the South! You'll get to safely service, troubleshoot, inspect, install, and rehab Ride machinery and components. Full Time Hourly, Non‑Exempt. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Pay Range

$30.12 - $40.16 per hour (depending on level of experience). Work in excess of 40 hours per week is paid at 1.5x standard pay rate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect rides and attractions, and notifying management of any and all hazards that may endanger guests or employees
  • Perform the ride inspection and maintenance programs in accordance with the standards set by Six Flags, Ride Manufacturers, ASTM and the State of Georgia.
  • Maintain, erect, repair and troubleshoot various theme park rides and attractions
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, gearbox drive systems etc.
  • Diagnose and repair/replace faulty mechanical components, such as lift chains, gear boxes, speed braking components, etc.
  • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
  • Remove and /or replace worn or defective parts using hand or power tools
  • Weld using process types such as shielded meta ARC welding, Flux Core ARC welding and Gas ARC welding
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and manufactures manuals and schematics as provided
  • Keep a daily duty log of maintenance work performed as well as accurate records of preventative maintenance
  • Respond to work orders and conduct mechanical repairs as required to maintain safe park operation.
  • Adhere to park policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of various mechanical systems and ability to proficiently weld.
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to professionally interact with other shops and various departments.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot clearly, calmly and safely in the presence of guests, co‑workers and park management.
  • Ability to write, speak and comprehend English.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job including lifting up to 100 lbs, bending, standing for long periods of time, climbing, and working at heights up to 200 ft.
  • Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work outside in any weather conditions, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean DMV report.
  • Employees are required to supply their own hand tools.
