Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago seeks an Operations Director to lead parish financial, facilities, HR, and operational activities across Cook and Lake counties. This role supports the Pastor, Principal where applicable, and the Director of Vicariate Operations to improve financial performance and service delivery.

Responsibilities include budgeting, reporting, internal controls, vendor management, and capital project oversight.

Qualifications

Must be Catholic and demonstrate understanding, respect and support of the Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.
Experience in Accounting, Finance, or related business practices.
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Experience in Human Resources practices, including people leadership, interviewing and selection, policy application.
Be able to to entrusted with highly confidential information.
Bachelor degree or higher in one of the related fields: Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.

Responsibilities

Prepares and manages parish budgets, annual reports, profit & loss, balance sheet, accounts receivable/payable, and general ledger.
Develops monthly variance reports and reforecasts; reviews with Pastor and Principal.
Ensures internal controls are in place and followed.
Manages parish bank relations, accounts, and disputes; may perform bookkeeping tasks.
Oversees purchasing, contracts and vendor relationships; coordinates capital campaigns and fundraising.
