Job summary

Sumtercatholic is seeking a Part-Time Truck Driver / Facilities Assistant to support the parish thrift shop, food pantry, facilities team, and broader parish community. The role involves safely operating parish vehicles to pick up and deliver furniture and goods, plus assisting with setup, cleanup, and ongoing maintenance across parish properties.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, service-oriented, and capable of physical work in a respectful parish environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to safely operate a parish vehicle.
• Experience with delivering or moving heavy items preferred.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull furniture and goods.
• Flexible part-time schedule and dependability.
• Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate parish trucks and vehicles in accordance with laws and safety procedures.
• Pick up donated furniture, household goods, appliances, and food pantry stock from various locations.
• Deliver items to parish programs, clients, and community partners.
• Assist with loading, unloading, moving, securing, and organizing items.
• Inspect vehicles before/after use and report maintenance concerns.
• Maintain pickup/delivery records and mileage when required.
• Plan efficient routes and communicate delays or changes promptly.
• Provide courteous service to donors, pantry recipients, parishioners, volunteers, and staff.
• Protect privacy and dignity of individuals receiving services.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for parish events and general facilities tasks.
• Report facility or safety issues to supervisor.
