Job summary

Samaritas is hiring in Kalamazoo, MI for a role supervising and coaching family visits for children in foster care. You will work to support parents, strengthen skills, and promote reunification while ensuring child safety.

A Bachelor's in human services is required and at least one year of relevant experience is expected. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for local travel are required; flexible hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field (required)
• At least one year of experience working with families facing complex challenges
• Strong knowledge of child development
• Experience in school, daycare, or family support settings preferred
• Familiarity with the Nurturing Parent Program, AAPI, or NSCS is a plus

Responsibilities

• Educate and coach parents on effective parenting skills through observation, modeling, and real-time feedback
• Supervisor parent-child visits in homes, offices, or community settings
• Ensure the safety of children and intervene when necessary
• Observe and document interactions, noting strengths and areas for growth
• Collaborate with caseworkers and provide regular updates on family progress
• Help parents identify visitation goals and reinforce positive development
• Conduct pre- and post-assessments using AAPI and NSCS tools
• Provide transportation for children and families as needed
