Job summary

Summit Pointe is seeking a Parent Support Partner to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to empower families to live as independently as possible and make informed decisions for their family’s wellbeing. You will draw on your life experiences to support parents, teach skills, and encourage recovery and positive change.

You will help families access health, educational, and community resources, prepare for appointments, and learn to manage health and services, aiming to improve overall

Qualifications

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED required.
  • You are a parent of a youth with behavioral and/or developmental needs.
  • Is currently or has been a participant of mental/behavioral health and/or educational services.
  • Willingness to share one's experience in behavioral health and educational systems.
  • Certification through Michigan's PSTC preferred.
  • Minimally, must be able to meet PSTC criteria to obtain Peer Support Specialist Certification.
  • Possess and maintain valid Michigan Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Job Summary/Objective:

A Parent Support Partner works with a multi-disciplinary team, to help empower customers to live as independently as possible, and to live a person-centered, self-determined life. The Family Parent Support Partner works as part of a team with behavioral health, medical, educational and other professionals. Parent Support Partners assist parents and families, helps to improve their well-being, advocate for their needs, and become more independent at making informed decisions for their family’s wellbeing. The Parent Support Partner uses their own life experiences to help and encourage the people they serve. They teach skills, share helpful information, and show others that recovery and positive change are possible.
