Job summary

Newport News Public Schools in Newport News, Virginia seeks a Part-Time Parent Resource Specialist to lead the PERC and connect families of students with disabilities with training, resources and support.

You will plan workshops, manage a lending library, serve as first contact for families, represent PERC on the Special Education Advisory Committee, and oversee grant activities from submission through monitoring.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office to include Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Plans, manages and coordinates all program activities, operations, and educational initiatives including a quarterly newsletter and a lending library.
• Develops and presents regularly scheduled training programs for parents and educators.
• Participates as a member of the Special Education Advisory Committee.
