Job summary

CHOR Youth and Family Services seeks a Parent Educator to implement the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model, working with 20–25 families from birth through kindergarten. You will conduct home visits, family assessments, and goal setting, delivering PAT curricula and supporting transitions to preschool.

Parent Educator – Community Prevention Partnership (CPP)

Full‑time, flexible schedule, salary $45,000.

Community Prevention Partnership (CPP), part of CHOR Youth and Family Services, is seeking a certified parent educator who is passionate about supporting families and strengthening parent–child relationships. This salaried position serves 20‑25 families who are pregnant or parenting children from birth through kindergarten.

Position Purpose

The Parent Educator implements the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model, emphasizing:

  • Parent‑child interaction
  • Development‑centered parenting
  • Family well‑being

Using the PAT Foundational Curriculum and 3 Through K Curriculum, the Parent Educator partners with families in culturally responsive ways to support healthy child development and strong family outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and engage families into the program
  • Complete initial and annual family‑centered assessments

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent international degree) – preferred
  • Supervised experience working with young children and/or parents – preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (nonjudgmental, empathetic, reflective)
  • Ability to build rapport and empower families by focusing on strengths
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self‑motivated in a field‑based role
  • Basic computer skills (email, internet, word processing)
  • Completion of Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings prior to service delivery (training provided)
Onboarding Requirements
  • Successful completion of federal and state background checks (criminal, FBI, and child abuse clearances)
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License
  • Physical and drug screening (including THC)
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete all required trainings
