Responsibilities

  • Completes Family Assessment and assists families with setting goals during the Family Partnership Agreement.
  • Works with families to obtain information needed (health records, consent forms, follow up treatment).
  • Completes home visits with families as needed.
  • Documents all case management activities in an online program database and maintains up-to-date files per policies.
  • Assists families with advocacy (e.g., attending IEP/IFSP meetings).
  • Participates in attendance analysis meetings and coordinates attendance agreements with families.
  • Facilitates monthly parent meetings and promotes parent/family engagement.
  • Organizes recruitment activities to familiarize families with the program.
  • Completes intake including income verification for families applying to the program.
  • Prepares and submits required documentation and reports per Activity Calendar.
  • Develops partnerships with parents and caregivers to foster active involvement in Head Start.
  • Maintains knowledge of community resources and refers families to needed services.
  • Assists with transitions into Head Start and from Head Start to Kindergarten.
  • Participates in staff meetings and maintains confidentiality.
  • Follows reporting procedures for suspected child abuse per mandated reporter status.
  • Participates in program reviews and safety best practices.
  • Promotes positive public relations for the program and agency.
  • Adheres to HIPAA policies and procedures.

Head Start Parent Coordinator

This position is a full time (partial year) position and is based at the Egyptian Head Start in Tamms, Illinois. It does come with a benefit package (including vacation, personal, and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer sponsored cafeteria plan).

Qualifications:

  1. Must be at least nineteen years of age,AND
  2. Prefer Bachelors Degree in Social Work or in an approved related field OR
  3. Associates Degree in Social Work or in an approved related fieldOR
  4. Associates Degree in a non-social work related field with a Family Service credential

Salary Range:$18.01 - $22.48 hourly

Job Duties:

  1. Completes Family Assessment and assists families with setting goals during the Family Partnership Agreement. Completes follow up periodically to measure progress of goals.
  2. Works with families to obtain information needed such as but not limited to: health records, consent forms, and any needed follow up treatment.
  3. Completes home visits with families as needed.
  4. Documents all case management activities into an online program specific data base and ensures children’s files are up-to-date as per program policies.
  5. Assists families with advocacy such as attending IEP/IFSP meetings, parent meetings, etc.
  6. Participates in attendance analysis meetings and works collaboratively with the Teaching Team to address attendance issues and in setting attendance agreements with the families.
  7. Facilitates parent meetings on a monthly basis at location and encourages parent, family, and community engagement activities.
  8. Organizes recruitment activities for children and families to become familiar with the program.
  9. Completes a face to face intake including income verification for families applying for the program.
  10. Completes and submits required documentation and reports according to the Activity Calendar.
  11. Responsible for developing a partnership with parents and caregivers in the Head Start program and encourages each parent/caregiver to take in active role in their child’s Head Start experience.
  12. Maintains a knowledge of the community (s) and area resources and refers families for any needed services and advocates for the family in securing services. Attends interagency/community meetings to inform others on services offered by Head Start and to stay current of available resources for families.
  13. Assists families with children’s transitions into the program, from Early Head Start to Head Start, and from Head Start to Kindergarten.
  14. Participates in staff meetings, center activities, parent coordinator meetings, and staff development.
  15. Maintains child, family, and employee confidentiality.
  16. Follows written procedures for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect as per Mandated Reporter status.
  17. Participates in the federal and annual program review.
  18. Responsible for carrying out best practices for safety procedures concerning children, staff, families, and community individuals and for assessing current practices and finding ways and areas needing improvement.
  19. Responsible for participating in activities and attitudes that promote positive public relations and positive image for the program and agency.
  20. Complies and is familiar with the requirements of the policies and procedures adopted by Southern Seven Health Department as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  21. Reports potential problems and concerns to Site Supervisor.
