Parent Advocate

The Parent Advocate is responsible for serving as a liaison for parents who need assistance in completing applications and other forms related to benefits and services.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with housing, public assistance, Medicaid, schools, and juvenile justice system needs.
  • Represent the agency at councils, committees, and with other agencies as needed.
  • Provide translation services when necessary.
  • Organize and lead parent self-help and advocacy groups, coordinating with other service providers.
  • Provide childcare or supervision during parent participation in programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children and families.
  • Experience, paid or volunteer, in helping children and parents.
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
