Job summary

First Student Hasbrouck Heights, NJ is hiring a Full Time Paratransit Access Link Driver to safely transport community members to appointments and run everyday errands. No experience is necessary; we provide expert training to become a safe and professional First Student Paratransit Access Link Driver.

Eligible candidates must be at least 21, hold a valid driver's license for at least 3 years, and be ready for a full-time schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety according to DOT rules.
  • Communicate with passengers, staff and dispatch about delays.

As a Full Time Paratransit Access Link Driver, you will play a vital role in your community and the lives of our passengers.

No experience is necessary to become a Paratransit Access Link Driver. We are here to help you succeed with expert training and guidance to help you become a safe and professional First Student Paratransit Access Link Driver.

Paratransit Access Link Driver benefits
  • $24.00 hour after training completion for CDL; $24.00 per hour while training.
  • $21.00 hour after training completion for NON CDL; $21.00 per hour while training.

Your day as a Paratransit Driver will include
  • Safely transport of community members and neighbors to and from appointments, errands and everything in between.
  • Supervise boarding and unloading at stops; assist citizens while entering the vehicle and with mobility aids.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, lights, tires, emergency exits).
  • Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the bus clean and sanitary.
  • Obey all traffic laws and company safety standards.
  • Communicate with passengers, staff, and dispatch about behavior or delays.
  • Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills.

  • Valid CDL License (Class A, B or C) with passenger endorsement
  • History driving with ride share companies or taxi services
  • Previous experience as social worker, classroom assistant, hospitality worker, customer service, retail associate, care assistant or direct care worker.

Language Requirement

This role requires English proficiency. Federal, state, and local requirements, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, require training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications be conducted in English.
